Web and multimedia

Webpages can be enriched by using some multimedia content. With multimedia, we mean images, video and audio. These can create a better user experience, and enhance the content. HTML and CSS files are usually not that large, only taking up some kilobytes of space. With multimedia content, the file sizes increase drastically. To ensure the best possible user experience, the content should be scaled for the use, e.g. there is no need to load a 3000x2000 pixel image on a 1080x1920 pixel screen. Media files should not be larger than necessary, as users have different Internet speeds, and some are even using the cellular network, potentially making large files expensive to download.
